About this meeting: Join us for an important public meeting regarding the CDO Park Amenities Project! During this session, we will review the valuable feedback gathered from Meeting #1, held on 9/30/2024, and present two concept designs for the park space. Your input is essential as we seek to refine these designs and the amenities included.
UPDATES FROM PAST PUBLIC MEETINGS:
County Parks staff have been preparing a public access plan for Boulder Oaks County Preserve in Ramona, which includes a planned trail system. An open house showcasing this trail system and how it fits into the overarching public access plan was held Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2019 at the Ramona Library. Seventy people attended. We continue to seek grant funds, and we look forward to implementing the recreational opportunities presented, as new funds become available. View the PDF of the planned trail system.
East Otay Trail Alignment Study:
The goal of this multi-agency project is to create a coordinated and sustainable trail system that will provide quality recreational trail connections while balancing the need to protect sensitive environmental resources. The trails and potential staging areas under consideration for further environmental analysis, as approved by the study partners are illustrated in this map. Environmental studies and analysis are currently underway for this project. For more information contact Juliette Orozco.
The first public workshop was held in March 2017. Staff presented the project purpose, guiding principles, trail planning process, numerous environmental considerations and constraints, and initial public input survey results. The workshop presentation, materials, maps, summary and highlights are posted in this article. County Parks held a second public workshop in June for a new trail plan in Otay Ranch and adjacent areas. Please see the workshop presentation and project fact sheet for additional information. Materials presented at the public workshop, including the trails siting and design guidelines, the trails under consideration, and related posterboards are available for your reference. An event and public comments summary is now available.
County Parks released a Notice of Preparation (NOP) of an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the East Otay Trail Alignment Study. The County is soliciting input and feedback from various agencies, stakeholders and the public pertaining to the scope and content of the environmental information that will be included in the EIR. The NOP Scoping Meeting was held in January 2023 via Zoom. Watch the recorded meeting.
In January 2018, County Parks hosted the first community meeting on the public access plan for Sycamore Canyon/Goodan Ranch. View the summarized feedback. Refer to the following links for information, or contact Emily Pacholski: emily.pacholski1@sdcounty.ca.gov
A second public meeting was held on Thursday, March 28 at the Poway Community Park Auditorium with over 100 members of the public in attendance. Materials from the meeting are available below (please note, some files are large and may take a few minutes to open). View the: 2nd Public Meeting Presentation
There have also been annual meetings of the Goodan Ranch County Preserve Policy Committee:
In March 2023, County Parks hosted a public workshop to explore trail alignment options for a new community trail that will ultimately travel from Willow Glen Drive to Beaver Hollow Road near Dehesa Road and Sloan Canyon Road (in Dehesa). Here is a summary of public comments.
Tijuana River Valley Regional Park:
In December 2016, County Parks hosted a public meeting at the Tijuana River Valley Regional Park ranger station. The purpose was to discuss the results of a feasibility that could bring new amenities to the valley, pending available funding, including campgrounds, a community garden extension, enhanced multi-use trails, a bike park and new equestrian areas, among other ideas. Projects will be discussed in further detail once funding sources have been identified and secured. View the recap of key points. For more information, contact Kiran Seibel.
