A primary recreation center for the Lakeside community, this park provides family and group picnic areas, a dance ramada, a skate park, a children’s playground, a softball field, a butterfly garden, horseshoe pits, and tennis courts. A library is situated nearby, and the Community Center and Teen Center hosts activities and events for all ages. Get your power-walk on and discover 17 physical fitness stations that offer a scenic, no-cost workout on the westernmost peninsula’s south shore. On site are 1.5 miles of ADA-friendly multi-use trails, a special TRACK Trail for kids which combines education with prizes via scavenger hunt that is logged online, and regular hosted hikes and programs with both rangers and park volunteers.

The lake is split into two basins, with the west carrying most of its water and the east serving as an overflow area following heavy rain. Waterfowl are common on site; herons, pelicans, egrets, geese, ruddy ducks, and American Coots – not to mention rare species like Cinnamon Teal, Stilts and Avocets. Say ‘I do’, and hold your gathering inside the Lakeside Community Center, or take advantage of the natural beauty and host your special day in the outdoors. Known for its excellent bird watching opportunities, Lindo Lake is one of San Diego's few natural lakes that provide a stunning scenic backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. The Boathouse and neighboring Lakeside Community Center are also available to rent for weddings, corporate and private events. Lindo Lake Improvements:

Lindo Lake in Lakeside, is the only natural lake in the County of San Diego and was originally fed by Quail Creek. In the 1960’s a dam was constructed on Quail Creek upstream of Lindo Lake which severed natural water flow into the lake. Stormwater and urban runoff from the hillsides surrounding Lindo Lake became its primary source of water and water quality has deteriorated over the years.

Lake restoration will be completed in two phases: Phase 1 restored the east basin and Phase 2 will restore the west basin. Phase 1 (east basin) construction was complete in August 2022. Phase 2 (west basin) is anticipated to go out to bid this winter. For more information about the construction project please see project updates on our Lindo Lake Improvements page.
