We're proud to announce the opening of the nomination period for the second annual Parks Champion Awards program. The awards recognize local champions for their work in education and environmental ambassadorship for parks and outdoor spaces across San Diego County.
“We are proud to lead the way in honoring the valuable impact volunteers have on our local parks, regional preserves, recreational programming and outdoor education,” said Brian Albright, Director of County Parks. “The work and leadership of so many volunteers contributes to an improved quality of life in San Diego.”
Beginning Friday, May 5, DPR is looking for champions whose volunteer efforts have made a significant impact in environmental stewardship, community service and healthy, active lifestyles. The nomination period is open through Friday, June 9. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will select the 2017 champion.
Judges will be looking for nominations that exemplify a nominee’s proven track record of outstanding service and commitment to programs that promote sustainability and conservation, among other criteria. To qualify, nominees must live and work in San Diego County; however, efforts submitted cannot be a part of one’s job.
The winner will be awarded at a banquet in July in celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month.
