On Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is celebrating the grand re-opening of Lincoln Acres County Park! The park has been expanded to 1.5 acres and revamped with upgraded amenities and new recreation opportunities for residents of all ages, abilities and interests.
This free, family-friendly event will begin with a formal
presentation featuring local dignitaries and a memorial plaque
dedication. Then, a DJ will play music during a 2-hour outdoor open
house, with hands-on activities at more than 10 stations throughout
the park property featuring local history, reading resources,
educational workshops, fitness classes and photo opportunities with
local safety personnel.
Special guests include DPR Director Brian Albright, County Supervisor Nora Vargas, former County Supervisor Greg Cox, National City Fire Chief Frank Parra, members of the Lower Sweetwater Fire Protection District Board, and Lincoln Acres Centennial Book authors Theresa Dyjak and Steven Schoenherr.
Activity Stations:
The San Diego County Parks Society will be sponsoring water, healthy snacks and small Kona Ice – one for every attendee!
Parking is limited. Additional parking with shuttle service will be available from Granger Junior High School and Lincoln Acres Elementary School.
