The Summer Movies in the Park series began in 2007 as a ‘take back our parks’ initiative – giving residents a reason to visit their local after dark via a free, fun and family-friendly event. Their presence deterred inappropriate loitering, encouraging future park visits in sync with the County’s Live Well vision to sustain safe, healthy and thriving communities.    

Now presented by Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, the series features dozens of movies rated G through PG-13. New movies include “Star Wars: The Last Jedi, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” “Ferdinand,” “Black Panther” and a Spanish version of “Coco.” Renaissance classics include “The Princess Bride,” “E.T. The Extraterrestrial,” “Karate Kid,” “The Sandlot” and “Casablanca.”

Screenings are free and open the public. Events begin as early as 6 p.m., though actual movie start times are 15 minutes after sunset. Before the movie, many locations provide additional entertainment like arts and crafts, games, costume contests, music, dancing and food trucks.

Pack the family, some chairs, blankets and a picnic and drive to your favorite park for an unforgettable evening under the stars!
