Presented by Rose SD Realty, Summer Movies in the Park is the largest free, outdoor movie series in San Diego – and this year is no exception. The 2019 season is jam-packed with action and adventure, comedy, drama, fantasy, horror and romance!
More than 150 movie screenings are on the calendar, with
showings at dozens of parks across the County, from San Ysidro to
Oceanside and downtown San Diego to Borrego Springs.
Even better, this year we started something new: Theme nights! We’ve coordinated a series of special showings to match all movie preferences.
Date Night: We’re mid-way through our date night series, with 18 screenings to help cozy up to your main squeeze! Enjoy throw-backs like “E.T. the Extraterrestrial” and “Some Like It Hot” plus newer flicks like The Greatest Showman” in a serene setting, under the stars!
Sports: “This is baseball, not tennis!” We’re showing some of the most quotable sports films of all time, including “The Sandlot”, “Field of Dreams” and Rookie of the Year”! We’ve built an epic experience for sports fans… will you come?
Superhero Cinema: What do Aquaman, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel have in common? Action-packed screen-play at 19 outdoor destinations – just in time for Comic-Con weekend, July 19 and 20! Don your best cape or costume for an event where your favorite characters take center stage.
Girls Night Out: Ladies, we’ve got a fun night planned for you... ‘Bend and snap’ your way to Heritage County Park on Saturday, Sept. 7 for a starlit showing of “Legally Blonde”. Enjoy themed activities and learn about the launch of County Parks’ first women-in-the-outdoors park program!
Friday the 13th: “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!” Head to Waterfront Park on Friday, Sept. 13, to watch this revival of hilarious, otherworld entertainment on the big screen! Dancing and singing encouraged.
Halloween: Would you rather share your picnic blanket with a ghost, a gremlin or a monster? Fortunately they are all friendly, and you don’t have to choose! Throughout the month of October we’re showing 10 Halloween classics. Wear your costume and participate in games; these fun parties are a treat for movie lovers of all ages!
Movies start 15 minutes after sunset. Many locations offer arts and crafts, games and other activities such as live entertainment and food trucks for about an hour before the movie begins.

Movies in the Park launched twelve years ago as a “take back our parks” initiative, encouraging residents to spend time in parks, after dark, to enjoy family-friendly entertainment, with the added benefit of deterring inappropriate loitering and park use. Learn more.
