We're adding a bike park to our list of park amenities at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park. Designed in collaboration with the cyclist community, the park will offer a variety of trails and special features to appeal to riders of all skill levels.
The bike park is the first of its kind for the County of San
Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and a welcome addition
to an already bustling
regional
park - known for its camping, hiking, splash pad, sports and
picnic opportunities.
Join San Diego County Supervisor Greg Cox and DPR for the grand opening celebration on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 from 10 - 11 a.m. Follow the event on Facebook and view the official flyer for more information.
The park, located at 6057 San Miguel Rd, Bonita, 91902, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to sunset, daily.
A groundbreaking event was held Thursday, May 9. Watch the video.

Sweetwater Bike Park will be equipped with: Four jump lines, ranging from beginner to expert, a jump track, a kid’s pump track, a skill zone, two flow trails, a perimeter trail that connects to those different features, and an entry plaza – perfect for meet-ups and special events.
The park was designed with the community in mind – three public meetings were held, in addition to 10 outreach events with local businesses that drew well over a 100 people – on top of the hundreds who have engaged via social media.
This park is a perfect example of the County’s Live Well initiative, to support a healthy, safe and thriving community. Riders of all ages will get a workout as they fine-tune their skills on a variety on increasingly challenging attractions.
San Diego Mountain Biking Association (SDMBA) was instrumental in helping us forge new connections with the mountain biking community, and Child Development Associates (CDA) stepped in with monetary support to cover a portion of the kids pump track. The San Diego County Parks Society aided in the receipt of those funds and will continue to assist with future bike park donations. Mountain bike teams at Eastlake and South Bay high schools provided invaluable feedback on park amenities.
