The happiest of holidays are spent in sunny San Diego where blue skies and fair weather dominate the forecasts, while fallen leaves and cool breezes remind us that winter is still here.
With more than a hundred County parks to visit, there’s no
shortage of places to see and things to do – and if you’re in the mood
for something especially merry and bright, we’ve planned six spirited
occasions that are sure to warm your heart and hot cocoa mug!

At 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, join us at Fallbrook Community Center for the official tree-lighting ceremony of our 20-foot cedar! This popular annual event includes performances by school groups, live music and entertainment, local vendors, food, and activities for all ages. > Facebook event
The next morning, Saturday, Dec. 2, beginning at 10 a.m., you're
invitied to celebrate the season old-world style at Rancho Christmas!
Located at the iconic Rancho
Guajome Adobe, this mirthful, multi-cultural affair
features tractor-drawn hay rides, yule-tide crafts, historically
decorated rooms, Native American storytelling, Ballet Folklorico and

Wrap your holiday up in eco-friendly fun when the jolliest of hikers heads to San Dieguito County Park on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.! Santa in Nature is a spirited soiree that reminds us we can be whimsical as well as zero-waste. Family-friendly activities include arts & crafts, workshops, live reptiles – even a jump house! > Facebook event
Snow in Spring Valley? By golly! Glistening on the green space at Spring Valley County Park will be sparkling snowflakes on Friday, Dec. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. Dash down to WinterFest to try your hand at sledding, cookie decorating, crafting, games or perfecting that selfie with Santa. > Facebook event
Early Saturday morning, Dec. 16, Fallbrook Community Center is back with a delicious display of tasty treats that are sure to bring the best smiles to your family photo session. Don't miss Breakfast with Santa from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. > Facebook event
On Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Holidays at the Lake is happening at Otay Lakes County Park where morning visitors can enjoy a light breakfast, games, a resource corner dedicated to grandparents raising grandchildren, arts & crafts, and delightful conversations with a magical man in a splendid red suit. > Facebook Event
